Weighing in at nearly 1,000,000 pounds, the Norfolk and Western Y-6 was one of Americas most powerful locomotives. Here it is seen on the turntable at the Norfolk & Westerns servicing yards at Shaffers Crossing, just west of downtown Roanoke, Virginia, getting ready to pull 150 hopper cars of coal to the docks in Norfolk.
